What's this all about?
Under the guidance of our Nordic walking guide, we will enjoy daily walks along canals and rivers, mostly on bicycle trails, void of car traffic. An exhilarating walk on the North Sea beaches will be for many people the highlight of this adventure. Fall is the most peaceful time of the year to explore Holland: watch the farmers prepare the land for next year's crop, wave at the boaters, listen to the birds and enjoy the tranquility all around you. We will explore some wonderful old villages where you see homes dating to the 1600's. We'll introduce you to Dutch pastries and hot chocolate with real whipped cream and of course, we visit Amsterdam, capital of the Netherlands and home to Heineken brewery, the van Gogh museum and the Rijksmuseum where you'll find many old masters including Rembrandt's Night Watch. Amsterdam also has the Anne Frank House and many terraces where you can relax and watch the locals go about their business.
Our barge
The barge was built in 1912 and carried cargo until 2001 when she was converted to a passenger ship. She has 12 double cabins, each with its own bathroom. Below deck is the dining room and cabins, the upper deck has a large lounge bar. You can sit outside on the deck and enjoy the scenery as we watch drawbridges being opened up for us. All breakfasts and dinners are on the barge; lunches are not included and are picnic style, weather permitting, and eaten en route.
